Ask Bruno: How to Place Downspouts

How should downspouts be placed around my property

Downspouts are an essential part of any home’s gutter system. They are responsible for collecting and diverting rainwater away from your home’s foundation, preventing water damage and flooding.

When downspouts are placed too close to your home’s foundation, they can cause water to pool around the foundation, leading to water damage and flooding. Additionally, if downspouts are placed too close to your home’s walls, they can cause water to seep into the walls, leading to mold and mildew growth.

Now that we’ve discussed why properly placing downspouts is important, let’s discuss how to do it. The first step is to determine the best location for the downspouts. Generally, downspouts should be placed at least five feet away from your home’s foundation and walls. Additionally, they should be placed in an area that will allow the water to flow away from your home.

Once you’ve determined the best location for the downspouts, you’ll need to install them. This can be done by attaching the downspouts to the gutter system and then securing them to the wall or foundation with screws. Additionally, you’ll need to make sure that the downspouts are properly angled so that the water flows away from your home.
